Pressreader reproduces an article from the Irish Daily Mail, about the song Missing You, by the Irish singer and songwriter Christy Moore, which includes the line "Now I just drink red biddy for a permanent high". The same article mentions that Yate's Wine Lodge used to sell a drink of the same name which was a mixture of red wine and grape brandy.
The Merseyside Pub Guide blog also mentions red biddy being sold by Yates's, in an entry (from 2011) that opens by quoting a clue in the Times crossword: "Extremely cheap booze embarrassed old woman (3,5)."
